PRODUCT RECALL BULLETIN

RE: Basemate Easy Connect

Retailers and end users of the Basemate Easy Connect ladder stabilizing device are hereby notified of a voluntary product recall issued by Task Tools for all units sold prior to November 30th, 2009.

Task has determined that it is possible, under certain conditions, for users to over-tighten the Easy Connect clamping mechanism which secures the unit to an extension ladder. If this happens it may cause the clamp to exert enough pressure on the ladder rung to deform the frame of the clamp. This deformation makes the frame of the clamp susceptible to bending under load.

The design of the Easy Connect clamp has now been changed to resolve this issue and all units shipped after December 31st, 2009 will feature the new design.

Retailers should immediately freeze their inventory and contact Task for a Return Authorization number (East: 1-800-268-2304, West: 1-800-663-0160). Retailers will be advised at that time on the delivery date for replacement product. Task will be shipping replacement units for all retailer purchases – both sold and unsold – of the Basemate Easy Connect.

End users should immediately stop using their Basemate Easy Connect – even if it does not show visible signs of deformation or bending – and return it to their retailer. The retailer will supply you with a new Basemate Easy Connect unit as soon as they become available.

Replacement Basemate Easy Connect ladder stabilizers will begin to be available for shipping from Task on or about January 18th, 2010.
